Box Score 2 EVERGREEN, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Softball team picked up the first doubleheader sweep of the 2026 season on Monday evening, Mar. 2, winning both games played on the road against ACCC foe Reid State (Ala.) in Evergreen, Ala.
After splitting a doubleheader with Reid State one week prior in Monroeville, Ala., the Coyotes managed a pair of wins against the Lions on Monday, taking game one 10-5 before winning 5-4 in comeback fashion during the nightcap. The overall record improves to 4-15 on the season for the 'Yotes, with Coastal winning three of four games played against their conference rival this season.
Monday Highlights
In Monday's first game, Coastal - North put together the best hitting performance of the season as a team, recording a season-high 14 hits in the 10-5 win. The 10 runs also marks a season-high for the Coyotes.Â
Coastal opened the scoring with a single run in the second inning, adding three runs one inning later. Leading 4-1 entering the fourth, both teams added a pair runs across the fourth frame, with Reid State cutting the deficit to 6-5 with two additional runs in the bottom of the fifth. However, the 'Yotes put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth inning, eventually winning by five.Â
Jakayla Williams paced the Coyotes with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, recording a double and finishing with three RBIs. Jordan Avera also finished 3-for-4 at the dish, driving in a run, while Destiny Holmes went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chloe Sheppard joined her teammates with a multi-hit performance, finishing 2-for-3 with a run driven in. In total, seven Coyotes recorded an RBI in the game one victory over Reid State.
From the pitcher's circle, Abbie Huff was credited with the win with four innings of work in relief, allowing six hits and four runs, while walking three. Lydia Brewer got the start for Coastal - North, lasting just three innings, allowing four hits and one run.Â
In the nightcap, Reid State looked destined to split Monday's twin bill, but three Coastal runs across the final two innings led to a sweep for the Coyotes.Â
Reid State managed to score four runs across the third and fourth innings after Coastal - North grabbed a 1-0 lead after the first frame. Coastal added an additional run in the fourth, but trailed 4-2 entering the latter part of the game. In the sixth inning, Coastal made things interesting with a run, cutting the deficit to just one run. Then in the final inning, the Coyotes pushed across two runs following a Jakayla William go-ahead triple, stealing the victory from the Lions.
Williams once again paced the Coyotes with two RBIs in the comeback, finishing 1-for-4 at the plate. Meanwhile, Destiny Holmes went 2-for-4 for the second consecutive game, recording an RBI, and Makinze Rabon finished a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI in the win. In total, Coastal tallied seven hits and took advantage of six Reid State errors in the game two victory.
Madison Favre was awarded the start and lasted four innings, allowing four unearend runs after Coastal - North's defense committed four errors of its own in game two. Bayleigh Elton was credited with the win from the rubber, tossing three one-hit innings without giving up a run.Â
Riding Momentum
Following the first sweep of the 2026 campaign for the 'Yotes, Coastal - North will look to ride momentum towards the next doubleheader on the schedule, coming on Thursday, Mar. 5 at Bevill State (Ala.) in Jasper, Ala. Thursday's DH is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. CT.Â
