MONROEVILLE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Softball program is officially headed to the postseason. The Coyotes closed out the 2026 regular season in dominant fashion over the weekend, sweeping Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Ala.) across a four-game ACCC series to secure the No. 6 seed in the upcoming ACCC Division II Softball Championship Tournament.
With the sweep, the 'Yotes finish the 2026 regular season at 18-36 overall and 17-19 in conference play, earning one of the six postseason spots in the 10-team ACCC Division II field. Coastal Alabama - North, led by head coach Christa Childress Dupont, will face No. 3 seed Enterprise State (Ala.) in the opening round of the conference tournament, scheduled for April 30 - May 2 at Veterans Park in Alabaster, Ala.
Series Highlights
The Coyotes opened the series with LBW on the road in Andalusia, Ala. and put together a strong all-around performance in the opener. Delana Peters and Destiny Holmes each recorded two hits and an RBI, while Jakayla Williams added a sacrifice fly and drew a walk in a 5-1 victory. Synya Edwards chipped in with an RBI as well. Meanwhile, Bayleigh Elton earned the win in the pitcher's circle, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Southpaw Abbie Huff closed out the game, allowing one run over the final two innings from out of the bullpen.
Coastal - North carried its momentum into game two, securing a 7-2 victory to sweep the Saints across the opening doubleheader. Delana Peters continued her strong day at the plate and led the way with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double and three RBIs. Destiny Holmes added a three-run home run, her third of the season, while Chloe Sheppard and Synya Edwards each scored twice. Lydia Brewer picked up the win in the circle after allowing two runs over five innings, and Madison Favre shut the door with two scoreless innings in relief.
Two days later at home in Monroeville, Ala., the Coyotes picked up right where they left off and grabbed a 7-1 win on Sophomore Day.
Jordan Avera put together a strong performance by reaching base four times, going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and an RBI. Destiny Holmes added a triple, while Alissa Holmes recorded two hits. Chloe Sheppard showcased plate discipline with three walks and scored twice. On the rubber, Madison Favre delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just one earned run while striking out three.
In the series and regular season finale, the Coyotes capped off the sweep in emphatic fashion, run-ruling LBW 8-0 behind a late offensive surge.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning, Coastal - North erupted for six runs in the fifth to end the game early. Chloe Sheppard led the charge with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, while Alissa Holmes went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Jakayla Williams added two hits and scored twice and Gracie Nelson recorded a pair of RBIs off a 1-for-2 performance. Starting pitcher Abbie Huff was dominant in the circle across the five innings, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits.
Nine sophomores from the Coastal Alabama - North Softball program were recognized and honored prior to the doubleheader in Monroeville, with those Coyotes wrapping up their collegiate careers on their home field in style.

Postseason Softball Ahead
Coastal Alabama - North Softball now turns its attention to postseason play, where the Coyotes will take on No. 3 seed Enterprise State in the opening round of the ACCC Division II Softball Championship Tournament on Thursday, Apr. 30 at 12:00 p.m. CT in Alabaster.
