ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Softball endured a challenging week away from home, falling in all four contests across a pair of doubleheaders during the week. The Coyotes opened with a non-conference trip to Baton Rouge Community College (La.) on April 7 before returning to conference play against Central Alabama Community College on April 9.
With the results, Coastal - North's losing streak moves to five games, dropping its overall record to 13-31 and 12-14 in ACCC play.
Tough Week of Travel
At Baton Rouge, the Coyotes were competitive in the opener but couldn't overcome early deficits in a 4-1 loss. Chloe Sheppard and Gracie Nelson each posted two-hit performances to lead an eight-hit effort at the plate. In relief, Abbie Huff delivered 4.2 innings, allowing just two unearned runs while striking out two. Despite steady contact offensively, Coastal drew no walks and left opportunities on base.
Game two saw the Coyotes fall 9-3 to Baton Rouge, as strikeouts limited offensive momentum. Alissa Holmes went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, while Synya Edwards provided a highlight with a solo home run. Coastal managed five hits but struck out 11 times in the contest and wrapped up non-conference play being swept on the road.
The Coyotes then traveled to Alexander City, Ala. for a conference matchup with Central Alabama two days later. In game one, Coastal - North dropped a 9-3 decision despite another solid showing from Alissa Holmes, who went 2-for-3. Destiny Holmes drove in two runs with a double, while Synya Edwards and Jordan Avera also contributed extra-base hits. Coastal collected seven hits but again went without a walk.
Game two proved to be the most competitive of the week, as the Coyotes battled before falling 6-5 on a Central Alabama walk-off. Delana Peters drove in two runs, and Edwards continued her productive stretch with a two-RBI double. Sheppard added two hits and an RBI in a perfect 2-for-2 outing. In the circle, Madison Favre provided four innings of relief, allowing two runs while keeping Coastal within striking distance. However, Central Alabama's late push secured the sweep.
Home Sweet Home
Coastal Alabama - North will look to bounce back quickly as the two conference foes will meet again for another ACCC doubleheader on April 11 in Monroeville, Ala. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT as the 'Yotes look to get back into the win column.
