Box Score 2 DECATUR, Miss. - The Coastal Alabama - North Softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to East Central Community College (Miss.) on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, as the overall record drops to 1-12 on the season. Additionally, the losing skid falls to eight during the early stages of the year.
East Central managed an 11-2 victory to begin Tuesday's doubleheader, winning in six innings after a two-run homer in the bottom half of the sixth ended the game early. Coyotes tallied seven hits in the loss, put only saw two runners score. Delana Peters finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while Jakayla Williams went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. From the pitcher's circle, Lydia Brewer was awarded the start, but only completed 1 2/3 innings before being relieved by Abbie Huff. Both pitchers allowed multiple runs in game one.
In the nightcap, 'Yotes kept the game more competitive, but fell 6-3. Coyotes tallied six hits, using a three-run fifth inning to cut a 6-0 East Central lead in half. Gracie Nelson reached base three times in the game two loss, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk. Meanwhile, Chloe Sheppard went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a walk. Bayleigh Elton tossed 3 1/3 innings as the starter, allowing five earned runs, while Madison Favre pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings from out of the bullpen.
Mississippi Road Trip Continues Thursday
The 'Yotes are scheduled for an additional non-conference doubleheader against a Mississippi team next on the schedule, coming on Thursday, Feb. 19 against East Mississippi Community College. Thursday's doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m. CT and will be played in Scooba, Miss.
