EVERGREEN, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama North Softball team recorded the first four-game sweep of the 2025 season on Saturday, April 12, defeating Reid State Tech (Ala.) in two road games after sweeping the Lions in two games at home on April 10. The Coyotes are now 11-37 on the season and 9-19 in the conference, riding the longest winning streak of the year.
Yotes Break Out the Brooms
On Saturday, Coastal North opened action with a 6-2 victory over Reid State, relying on a strong sixth inning to secure the win. Coastal North led 3-0 after four innings, but put the game away with a three-run sixth to take a 6-0 lead late. Reid State did rally for two runs in the final inning, but the deficit was too great and the Coyotes won their third-straight game over the area rival.
Coastal North tallied nine hits in game one, led by Reanna Johnson with three hits. Johnson finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jade Allen led the team with three RBIs in the win, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate. Jakayla Williams also finished with two hits, adding a walk and an RBI. From the pitcher's circle, Madison Favre tossed a complete game, giving up eight hits and two runs in the winning effort.
In Saturday's second game, the Coyotes dominated 10-1, scoring four insurance runs in the final inning alone. Similar to game one, Coastal North got out to a big lead early, while putting the game away with the four-run seventh. The Yotes recorded 17 hits compared to Reid State's six in the nightcap.
Reanna Johnson, Mary Grace Whatley and Jordan Avera all tallied three hits each in the big win to secure the series sweep, with Avera adding two RBIs. Jakayla Williams paced the team with three RBIs in game two, finishing 2-for-5 at the plate. She, along with Whatley, scored three runs each. From the rubber, Reanna Johnson pitched her second consecutive complete game, allowing the six hits and one earned run. She struck out two.
Wave of Momentum
Riding the four-game win streak, the Coyotes are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 17 on the road, facing off with Wallace State - Dothan (Ala.) for a conference doubleheader in Dothan, Ala. Thursday's DH is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. CT.
