MONROEVILLE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama North Softball team picked up the second sweep of the 2025 season on Thursday afternoon, April 10, defeating Reid State Tech (Ala.) in two home conference games. The Coyotes secured a 6-4 victory to begin action, while holding off the Lions in a 4-3 ballgame in game two. The overall record advances to 9-37 on the season following the sweep, with the ACCC record moving to 7-19.
Coastal North has a chance to sweep Reid State again on Saturday, April 12 with an additional doubleheader in Evergreen, Ala. at 1:00 p.m. CT.
Coyotes Feel Good with Thursday Showing
Coastal North was forced to use a comeback across both games against Reid State on Thursday, winning game one 6-4 after trailing 2-0 through four innings. The Coyotes grabbed the lead with a four-run fifth inning, but allowed the Lions to tie the game 4-4 in the top of the sixth. In the bottom half of the sixth, the Yotes reclaimed the lead with two big runs, which eventually decided the outcome. Coastal North out-hit Reid State 9-8 in Thursday's first game as both teams committed two errors.
Reanna Johnson led the Coyotes with two RBIs in game one, finishing 1-for-3 with a run scored. Meanwhile, Jordan Avera put together a strong 3-for-3 performance at the plate with an RBI and run scored, while Jakayla Williams finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. In the pitcher's circle, Madison Favre finished with a complete game to earn the win, allowing eight hits and three earned runs. She threw 76 pitches, 56 going as strikes.
In game two, Reid State once again took an early advantage over the Coyotes. The Lions pushed across three runs in the first inning alone, forcing Coastal North to work another comeback attempt. In the bottom of the third, the Yotes did indeed come back and even grabbed the lead with a four-run inning. From there, both teams went scoreless as the Coyotes earned a 4-3 win.
Reanna Johnson was excellent from the pitcher's circle following the three-run first inning, with all three runs scored being charged as unearned runs. Johnson gave up 10 hits, but did not allow an earned run to score in a complete-game performance. Offensively, Johnson tallied three hits in four at-bats, scoring a run in the process. She finished her day against Reid State with a 3-for-7 day at the plate with two RBIs, two runs scored, and a win from the circle after a complete game effort.
Mary Grace Whatley joined Johnson with a multi-hit effort in game two, finishing 2-for-4, and Jade Allen and Delana Peters picked up RBIs with one hit a piece in the 4-3 win.
