THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball built an early cushion and never let go Friday night, Dec. 12, defeating Enterprise State Community College (Ala.) 71-57 at home in Monroeville. The win keeps Coastal - North perfect in conference play at 4-0, with the Coyotes currently sitting in sole possession of first place in the ACCC D-II Men's Basketball standings ahead of Christmas break. Meanwhile, Friday's victory over the Boll Weevils improves the overall record to 8-6 this season.
Bryce Wilkins Leads the Charge
The Coyotes set the tone from the opening tip, jumping out to a 36-18 halftime lead behind consistent scoring and control of the glass. Coastal - North finished the night with a strong 49-rebound performance as a team, while shooting 40.3% from the field and committing just 10 turnovers in the win.
Bryce Wilkins had a big night against Enterprise State and led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while also pulling down nine rebounds in the victory. Wilkins' 22-point performance marks his highest scoring total since a 26-point game back on Nov. 13 of this season. He currently sits third in ACCC Division II with 8.5 rebounds per game and fifth in the conference with a 56.1% field goal percentage.
Elijah Pippins followed Wilkins' line and contributed across the stat sheet with six points and a game-high eight assists, while Chimeziri Okeoma added eight points. Justin Burns anchored the interior with 10 rebounds, helping the Coyotes generate second-chance opportunities throughout the game.
Coastal - North maintained its double-digit advantage in the second half, matching Enterprise State's physicality and closing out the game at the free-throw line, where the Coyotes shot 78.3 percent for the night. With contributions up and down the lineup, Coastal - North showcased depth as 12 Yotes finished with points in Friday's conference win.
Coastal Versus Coastal Ahead
The Coyotes from Coastal - North will look to carry the momentum forward as they return to non-conference play on Monday evening, Dec. 15, traveling to Bay Minette, Ala. for a matchup with counterpart Coastal Alabama - South at Jack Robertson Arena. Monday's action in Bay Minette, Ala. is a scheduled doubleheader between the Coastal Alabama Basketball programs, with women's basketball kicking things off with a 5:00 p.m. CT tipoff, while men's basketball follows at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The sibling rivalry between Coastal - North and Coastal - South will be aired live on JockJive.com and is the final meeting of the season between the Coyotes.
