MONROEVILLE, Ala. - The road to collegiate success often begins miles from home. For Al'Terrius Beasley, it began and flourished right in the heart of Monroeville, Alabama. For two years, whenever the Coyotes took the floor inside The Cooper Center on the Monroeville campus, one of their own represented more than just Coastal Alabama Community College.

He represented home.

Monroeville native Al'Terrius Beasley never had to travel far to chase his collegiate dream. A graduate of Monroe County High School, Beasley chose to begin his men's basketball collegiate career at Coastal Alabama Community College in his hometown, playing for the Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball program.

What followed became a memorable career that meant more than just basketball.

Under the leadership of head coach Chuck Taylor, Beasley helped lead Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball to back-to-back Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Division II Regular Season Championships while also capturing the 2025-26 ACCC Division II Men's Basketball Championship Tournament title. The ACCC Tournament Championship allowed the Coyotes to earn a bid to the 2026 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament in Danville, Ill.

For a hometown kid, there was no greater feeling than celebrating championships in front of the community that watched him grow up.

"Playing for my hometown college and winning championships was the best feeling ever," Beasley said. "I feel like I was an example and role model for the youth in my hometown, being the first person in Monroeville to win championships at Coastal, and being able to graduate and move on to play at the four-year level."
 

But Beasley's story extends far beyond the banners, trophies and championship celebrations.

Yes, he earned an athletic scholarship to continue his basketball career. Yes, he won championships. But he also walked across the graduation stage. In May of 2026, he earned his degree from Coastal Alabama Community College, while also earning NJCAA All-Academic honors.

And now, because of his commitment both academically and athletically, he has earned the opportunity to continue his education and basketball career at the NCAA Division II level, joining Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.

His success wasn't defined by points, rebounds or wins alone. It was built through perseverance in the classroom, dedication on the court and a belief that every opportunity mattered. That journey makes leaving Coastal Alabama bittersweet.

"Coastal Alabama means a lot to me," Beasley said. "I get a little emotional thinking about it, but Coastal welcomed me with open arms, taking a chance on me in the classroom and on the basketball court. I'll forever be grateful and thankful for the opportunity."
 

For Beasley, Coastal Alabama became more than a college. It became family.

The coaches believed in him. Professors challenged him. Teammates became brothers. Staff members invested in his future, helping prepare him for life after junior college.

Now, as he prepares for the next chapter at Spring Hill College, Beasley hopes his journey inspires the next generation of student-athletes from Monroeville and beyond.

His message is simple: success is possible when you embrace every opportunity.

"I recommend Coastal Alabama Community College because they provide the best education and athletic experience you could ever ask for," Beasley said. "Everyone on campus is so friendly, understanding, and full of life. You can really feel that they truly care, love you, and want you to succeed no matter what you do."

Beasley arrived at Coastal Alabama as a local standout with dreams of playing college basketball. He leaves as a graduate, a two-time conference champion, a conference tournament champion, and an NCAA Division II signee.

Most importantly, he leaves as proof that the greatest victories aren't necessarily measured only by championships. They're measured by the lives changed along the way.

For Monroeville, Al'Terrius Beasley will always be the hometown kid. For Coastal Alabama, he'll always be a champion and a Coyote.
