Yotes Finish Opening Weekend in Boaz 0-2 Against Tought Non-Conference Opponents

Box Score

BOAZ, Ala. - No. 14 Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball wrapped up its opening weekend of the 2026-27 season with a 74-58 loss to Florida State College of Jacksonville on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Boaz, Ala. The Coyotes finished the weekend 0-2 against a challenging slate of non-conference opponents.

Coastal Alabama - North looked to bounce back after opening the season against No. 6 Davidson-Davie Community College on Friday. However, the Coyotes faced another tough test against a receiving-votes Florida State College of Jacksonville squad, falling short despite several strong individual performances.

Sophomore Ethan Wyatt led the Coyotes offensively, finishing with 15 points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Wyatt also converted six of his eight free-throw attempts while contributing four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Second-year Coyote Bryce Wilkins added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, providing a presence on the interior. Wilkins shot 4-of-8 from the field and 4-of-6 at the free-throw line while recording six offensive rebounds.

David Culbreath-Martin and King Larkin each contributed seven points. Martin connected on one three-pointer and dished out three assists, while Larkin added five rebounds and two steals. Brennan Webb rounded out the starting lineup's scoring with six points.

Coastal - North totaled 29 rebounds, including 14 on the offensive glass, and recorded 10 assists and five steals. The Coyotes struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 32.1 percent (18-of-56) from the field and 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from three-point range. Coastal converted 24 of its 34 free-throw attempts.

Despite the opening-weekend results, the Coyotes gain valuable experience against two nationally competitive programs as they begin their pursuit of another championship-caliber season. Coastal - North enters the new campaign looking to build on last season's success, when head coach Chuck Taylor guided the program to the ACCC Division II regular-season and tournament championships.

The Coyotes will look to use the lessons from their opening weekend as they continue to develop chemistry and prepare for the challenges ahead in the 2026-27 campaign.

Home Opener / Championship Celebration Next

Coastal Alabama - North is set for the first home game of the 2026-27 season next on the schedule. The Coyotes will be up against defending ACCC Division I champion Bishop State (Ala.) at the Cooper Center in Monroeville, Ala. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT as the program celebrates its 2025-26 championship season pregame at 6:30 p.m. CT.
