Coastal - North Women's Basketball Powers Past Delgado in Monday Home Victory

Coyotes Back in Win Column with 23-Point Non-Conference Victory

Box Score

THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball delivered one of its strongest all-around performances of the season on Monday evening, Nov. 17, rolling to an 83-60 victory over Delgado Community College (La.) at home in Monroeville, Ala. The win improves the overall record back to .500 on the season at 3-3, with the Coyotes winning three of the last four games played. Additionally, the Yotes improve to 3-1 inside the Cooper Center during the 2025-26 campaign.

How It Happened

After trailing 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, the Coyotes took control with a 21-11 second-quarter surge and never looked back from a 38-30 halftime lead. The Coyotes outscored the Dolphins 45-30 in the second half, jumping out to a 10-2 run to open the third quarter and set the tone of the final 20 minutes. Delgado had no answers for Coastal - North's momentum, which featured balanced scoring, dominant rebounding, and standout individual efforts from multiple Coyotes.

Coastal - North sealed the win with a dominant 24-9 fourth quarter, pushing the lead out of reach and energizing the home crowd. The victory marks another step forward in non-conference play as the Coyotes continue to build momentum heading into a long road streak ahead.

Hill Leads the Charge

Freshman guard Lailah Hill put together a complete performance, finishing with a game-high 21 points on 6-of-16 shooting while going a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range and 7-for-8 at the foul line. She added 10 rebounds, giving her a double-double, and played a key role in shifting momentum during the second quarter.

  • Tamira Smalls: 6 points, a team-high 12 rebounds, and strong defensive presence
  • Saije Taylor: 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, 9 rebounds
  • Jamonica Miller: 8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals

The Coyotes out-rebounded Delgado with 55 rebounds in the win, including 28 offensive boards that generated numerous second-chance opportunities.

The Coyotes shot 37.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three while forcing 21 Delgado turnovers.

Five-Straight on the Road

The Coyotes are set for five consecutive games on the road following Monday's win over Delgado, starting with a non-divisional meeting with Andrew College (Ga.) on Saturday, Nov. 22. Saturday's game with Andrew in Cuthbert, Ga. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT and is the second meeting of the young season between the two teams. Coastal - North's first win of the year came against Andrew back on Nov. 7 in Monroeville.
