BOAZ, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball team battled for two quarters on the road Monday night, Feb. 16, but could not keep pace in the second half, falling 78-39 to No. 20 Snead State Community College (Ala.) in the 2025-26 regular season finale. The Coyotes (5th in ACCC Division II) trailed by just seven points at halftime, 30-23, after a competitive opening 20 minutes. Coastal - North limited the Parsons' offense early and found timely scoring to stay within striking distance heading into the break.
However, the second half proved challenging for the 'Yotes. Coastal managed just eight points in the third quarter and eight more in the fourth, as Snead State pulled away with a 23-point third frame and 25-point fourth quarter to secure the conference victory.
Inside the Numbers
In the defeat, Coastal Alabama - North shot 22.4 percent (15-of-67) from the floor and 14.3 percent (1-of-7) from three-point range. The Coyotes converted 9-of-14 attempts from the free-throw line and finished with 38 total rebounds.
Saije Taylor and Starr Pittman led the Coyotes with 13 points each. Taylor shot an efficient 6-of-12 from the field and added three steals, while Pittman connected on five field goals and grabbed five rebounds. Grace Smith recorded a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with two points, anchoring the effort on the glass. Ariel Gilchrist contributed eight rebounds and five points, while Akira Martin added three points and two steals.
Defensively, Coastal Alabama - North totaled 12 steals but committed 25 turnovers, which proved costly against a nationally-ranked opponent.
With the loss, the Coyotes remain on the outside looking in for the ACCC Division II Championship Tournament, currently sitting in fifth place in the standings awaiting results from other teams in the ACCC.
