Box Score ENTERPRISE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Monday night, Feb. 2, rolling to a commanding 70-34 road victory over Enterprise State (Ala.) and holding the Boll Weevils to just three points in the final quarter. The win improves the overall record to 10-13 this season, with the conference record moving above .500 at 5-4. Additionally, the win moves the Coyotes into a third-place tie in the current ACCC standings.
How It Happened
The Coyotes' defensive intensity set the tone early and never wavered. Coastal - North limited Enterprise State to minimal scoring opportunities throughout the contest and completely shut down any comeback hopes in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bollweevils 19-3 in the final frame to close out the dominant win.
Starr Pittman led the way offensively with a season-best 18 points on an efficient 8-of-15 shooting performance, adding four rebounds and two assists. Ariel Gilchrist followed closely with 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.
Inside, the Coyotes controlled the glass in a big way. Grace Smith finished in double figures with 13 rebounds and nine points, while Saije Taylor added 11 boards to go along with six points. As a team, Coastal - North matched a season-high 55 rebounds in the win, finishing with 27 offensive rebounds to create consistent second-chance opportunities.
Other contributors included Akira Martin, who chipped in seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Tamira Smalls added seven points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks off the bench. Joy Minnifield contributed six points and a team-high five assists to help facilitate the offense.
Despite shooting 33% from the floor and going 0-for-9 from three-point range, the Coyotes capitalized on their defensive pressure and rebounding edge. Coastal - North collected 14 steals and four blocks, turning those extra possessions into scoring opportunities.
The 36-point victory marks one of the team's most decisive wins of the season and underscores the Coyotes' defensive identity, highlighted by their suffocating fourth-quarter effort. Coastal - North will look to carry the momentum into its next conference matchup as the Coyotes continue their push through the regular season.
