MONROEVILLE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball program is preparing for the 2026-27 season, as 11th-year head coach Mandee Armstrong leads the Coyotes into another campaign of Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Division II competition.
Coastal Alabama - North finished the 2025-26 season with a 10-16 overall record and a 5-7 mark in ACCC Division II play. The Coyotes will look to build on that experience with a new season featuring a mix of non-conference challenges, familiar conference opponents and two highly anticipated matchups against Coastal Alabama - South.
Armstrong enters her 11th season at the helm of the Coyotes after guiding the program to one of its most successful campaigns in 2023-24. That season, she was named ACCC Division II Women's Basketball Coach of the Year after leading Coastal Alabama - North to a 19-13 record, the program's first-ever ACCC Championship and its first bid to the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament.
The Coyotes' 2026-27 roster features 14 players, including six freshmen and eight sophomores, as Armstrong looks to blend newcomers with returning experience throughout the season. Armstrong will also be joined by third-year assistant coach Kandas Coates, a former player under Armstrong who enters her third season on the Coyotes' coaching staff.
Coastal - North will open its regular season schedule on Friday, Oct. 30, traveling to Baton Rouge, La. for matchups against Baton Rouge Community College (La.) that Friday and Southern Arkansas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 31. After Coastal - North faces Huntingdon College (Ala.) JV on Nov. 2 in Montgomery, Ala., the Coyotes will begin the home portion of the schedule on Nov. 5, hosting Delgado Community College (La.) at 5:00 p.m. CT inside the Cooper Center in Monroeville, Ala. The home opener marks the beginning of a stretch of early-season contests against regional opponents, including Meridian Community College (Miss.), Southwest Mississippi Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College.
The Coyotes will also face a challenging slate of conference opponents, including rival Reid State (Ala.), Wallace - Selma (Ala.), Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Ala.), Enterprise State (Ala.), Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.), and Snead State (Ala.). These matchups will be important as Coastal - North works toward positioning itself for the postseason.
One of the season's early highlights comes Saturday, Nov. 14, when the Coyotes travel to Bay Minette, Ala. to face Coastal Alabama - South at 2:00 p.m. CT inside Jack Robertson Arena on the Bay Minette campus. The matchup marks the first meeting of the season between the two Coastal Alabama programs in the annual "Yotes Series."
The rivalry will return to the Monroeville campus on Monday, Jan. 11, when Coastal Alabama - North hosts Coastal Alabama - South at 5:00 p.m. CT inside the Cooper Center. With both programs representing the Coastal Alabama Coyote tradition, the two meetings will provide another opportunity for bragging rights within the college's athletics department.
The Coyotes will close the regular season with a road matchup against Chattahoochee Valley on Monday, Feb. 8, before returning home to host Snead State on Monday, Feb. 15, at 5:00 p.m. CT.
The 2026-27 ACCC Division II Women's Basketball Championship Tournament is scheduled to begin Thursday, Feb. 25, at Talladega College (Ala.) in Talladega, Ala.
With a roster featuring six freshmen and eight sophomores, Armstrong and the Coyotes will look to establish their identity early, compete consistently throughout conference play and work toward a return to the ACCC postseason.
