Box Score THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball team dropped a conference matchup to No. 23 Chattahoochee Valley Community College (Ala.) in ACCC Division II action on Thursday evening, Jan. 8, falling to the nationally ranked Pirates 74-61 in the first game back at the Cooper Center for the 2026 calendar year.
The loss marks the third-straight defeat for the Coyotes and drops the overall record to 6-11 on the season. Additionally, the conference record falls below .500 at 2-3.
The Highlights
Despite the loss, the Coyotes had several strong individual performances on the offensive end. Saije Taylor led all scorers for Coastal Alabama – North with a season-high 21 points, adding nine rebounds while shooting 7-of-20 from the floor and 7-of-10 at the free-throw line. The majority of Taylor's production came in the second half, with the sophomore keeping hopes alive in the tough battle with Chatt Valley.
Meanwhile, Ariel Gilchrist followed with 16 points, six rebounds, four steals, and four assists, knocking down 6-of-20 shots and 4-of-7 from the charity stripe. Jamonica Miller and Lailah Hill each chipped in four points, while Tamira Smalls added four points and four rebounds on a 2-for-2 shooting night. Off the bench, Joy Minnifield contributed eight points and a team-high six assists, and Grace Smith pulled down six rebounds to go along with two points. As a team, Coastal - North shot 35.3 percent from the field (24-of-68) and went 12-of-19 from the free-throw line. The Coyotes finished with 33 total rebounds, 13 assists, and forced 10 steals defensively.
Non-Conference Action on Saturday
Coastal Alabama - North will look to regroup quickly as non-conference play returns this upcoming weekend, with the Coyotes preparing to host Baton Rouge Community College (La.) on Saturday, Jan. 10. Saturday's game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted live on JockJive.com.
