Box Score THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North battled through a tough shooting night but ultimately came up short in a hard-fought loss to Snead State (Ala.) on Thursday night, Jan. 15, falling 74-49 to the Parsons in ACCC action. The loss marks Coastal - North's fifth in the last seven games played and drops the overall record on the season to 7-12. Additionally, the conference record falls two games below .500 at 2-4.
How It Happened
The Coyotes struggled to find any rhythm offensively, shooting 15-of-86 (17.4%) from the field and 1-of-17 (5.9%) from three-point range across the contest. The 17.4 shooting percentage by far marks the lowest of the season for Coastal - North as it just seemed to be an off night for the 'Yotes. Despite the challenges, Coastal - North showed grit on the glass and on the defensive end, rebounding 41 boards, including 28 offensive rebounds, and forcing 18 turnovers.
Starr Pittman led Coastal Alabama - North with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, recording a double-double while adding eight offensive boards. Ariel Gilchrist provided a spark off the bench, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds while drawing contact and going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Saije Taylor added nine points and five rebounds, while Akira Martin contributed six points, three rebounds, and three assists. Defensively, Gilchrist also stood out with four steals, as Coastal totaled 15 steals and two blocks as a team.
Meanwhile, Joy Minnifield and Samiya Clayton helped apply pressure on the perimeter, combining for four steals, while Lailah Hill chipped in four points and three rebounds off the bench. Coastal Alabama - North continued to compete until the final buzzer, creating extra possessions with offensive rebounds and getting to the free-throw line 32 times, converting 18 attempts.
The 'Yotes will look to regroup and bounce back as non-conference play returns ahead, aiming to turn defensive intensity and rebounding effort into results in their next outing.

The Coyotes are set for a non-divisional matchup with NCAA D-III's Huntingdon College (Ala.) next time out, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. CT. Tuesday's game will be played at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
