Box Score THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball delivered its most dramatic performance of the season on Thursday evening, Dec. 4, storming back from a 16-point second-half deficit to stun conference rival Reid State 71-69 at the Cooper Center in Monroeville. Originally scheduled to be played in Evergreen, Ala., a venue change just hours before tip-off saw Thursday's action played on the Coyotes' home floor in front of a strong home crowd that rallied behind the impressive comeback.
The win halts the Coastal North's five-game losing streak and moves the record to 4-7 overall on the year, while the ACCC record improves to 1-1.
Massive Fourth Quarter Leads to Win
After trailing 60-44 entering the fourth quarter, Coastal - North erupted for 27 points while holding Reid State to just nine points in the final 10 minutes, showcasing one of the most locked-in defensive stretches of the season. The surge was fueled by relentless rebounding, second-chance points, and timely scoring from the entire rotation.
Saije Taylor powered Coastal - North with a team-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, securing another double-double while anchoring the late rally. Taylor scored key baskets in the paint during the comeback and led all players with seven offensive rebounds. She now has three double-doubles during the 2025-26 campaign.
Ariel Gilchrist added 11 points, a team-high seven assists, and eight rebounds, playing one of her most complete games of the season by flirting with a triple-double. Gilchrist's playmaking was critical in the final quarter as the Coyotes found their rhythm and sped up the pace. Meanwhile off the bench, Starr Pittman delivered a major spark with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a pivotal three-pointer and several transition buckets as Coastal - North gained momentum.
Other contributors included Joy Minnifield, who scored nine points and tallied six assists, while Jamonica Miller added four points and five steals, helping pressure Reid State into turnovers late. Tamira Smalls and Samiya Clayton combined for eight points and 13 rebounds to strengthen Coastal - North's inside presence.
Overall, the Coyotes dominated the glass with 46 total rebounds, including 20 offensive boards, which repeatedly extended possessions during the comeback. Coastal - North finished with 18 assists and forced Reid State into mistakes down the stretch to complete the turnaround.
The dramatic 27-9 fourth-quarter advantage flipped what had been a frustrating three quarters into one of the team's most memorable wins of the season.

Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball will look to build off the big comeback on Thursday and return to action at the Cooper Center this weekend for a non-conference meeting with Southern Union (Ala.) on Dec. 6, a team the Coyotes lost to by six points back on Nov. 29 in Watley, Ala. Saturday's game is set for 2:00 p.m. CT in Monroeville and will be aired live on JockJive.com.
Additionally, Thursday's win over Reid State kicks off a four-game home stand for the Yotes from Dec. 4-12.Â
