How It Happened
Pensacola Christian opened the game with a decisive 33-point first quarter, putting Coastal - North in an early deficit that proved difficult to overcome. Despite settling in during the middle frames, including a 20-point third quarter effort, the Coyotes were unable to slow the home team's momentum as the two teams split the two-game regular season series.
Ariel Gilchrist led Coastal - North for the second-straight game offensively with 13 points against PCC, while delivering a strong presence on the glass, finishing with 12 rebounds to record a double-double. Tamira Smalls also posted an impressive night on the boards, pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds to go with nine points, finishing just one point shy of her own double-double. The Coyotes controlled the offensive glass throughout the game, finishing with 25 offensive rebounds and 54 total rebounds as a team. Meanwhile, Lailah Hill contributed eight points and three rebounds, while Jamonica Miller added seven points, two steals, and four assists. Saije Taylor chipped in seven points and seven rebounds in the starting lineup.
Off the bench, Samiya Clayton and Grace Smith each scored six points and collected six rebounds, while three others collected two points each. Coastal - North finished the game shooting 32.9% from the field while converting 10-of-21 attempts from the free-throw line. The Coyotes limited turnovers in the second half but were unable to erase the early deficit created by Pensacola Christian's fast start.
Coastal Alabama - North looks to regroup as the Coyotes continue the road stretch and aim to break the current four-game slide.
