Coyotes Come Away with Two W's
Game one on Thursday unfolded as a pitcher's duel, with Coastal - North doing just enough at the plate to edge Enterprise State, 3-2. The Coyotes struck early and leaned on timely hitting and strong pitching to withstand a late rally from the Boll Weevils and secure the one-run victory.
The tone was set immediately as Reni Mason delivered an RBI single in the top of the first to give the 'Yotes an early advantage. Coastal added to its lead in the third when a wild pitch brought home another run. Enterprise State responded with a run in the fourth to trim the deficit to 2-1, but the Coyotes answered with a key insurance run in the fifth that ultimately proved decisive. The Boll Weevils pushed across a run in the final inning, but Coastal's pitching staff held firm to close it out.
Kieran Kostanoski turned in a complete-game performance on the mound, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking out seven. The outing marked his fourth win of the 2026 season and continued his strong run on the mound. Offensively, the Coyotes tallied five hits, led by Peyton Martin's 2-for-3 effort at the top of the lineup. Martin also drew a walk and scored twice. Mason finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk, while Zoyle Gemar and Tucker Carlos each added a hit.
In game two, Coastal - North's offense came alive in an 8-5 win to complete the doubleheader sweep. The Coyotes seized control with a five-run third inning, building a 6-1 lead through three frames. Enterprise State responded with four runs in the fifth to cut the margin to one, but Coastal answered with two crucial insurance runs in the sixth to regain control and secure the victory.
Martin stayed hot in the nightcap with two more hits and a run scored. Landon Jones drove in a pair with a double, while Sam Guth and Zoyle Gemar each recorded an RBI. On the mound, TJ Hauser earned the start and went five innings, striking out five while allowing four runs. Andrew Benson and Jordan Ard combined to toss two hitless innings in relief to seal the win.
With the pair of victories, the Coyotes gain early momentum in the four-game set and continue to climb in the ACCC standings.
