BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama Community College officially ushered in a new era of Coyote Baseball this weekend, cutting the ribbon on its new baseball stadium on the Brewton campus on Feb. 6 while celebrating a dominant four-game series sweep.
The upgraded facility features expansive new stadium seating, a modern concessions and restroom area, a high-level press box, enhanced sound system, and new foul and flag poles. The stadium also showcases a Coastal Coyote-branded batter's eye, a brick backstop accented with Coastal Coyote-branded padding, and numerous additional enhancements that reflect the College's commitment to providing a first-class experience for student-athletes and fans alike.
Coastal Alabama President Dr. Aaron Milner, Athletic Director Daniel Head, and Vice President Dr. Lonnie Burnett each addressed attendees during the ceremony, highlighting the significance of the project and the collaborative effort that brought the vision to life. Other special guests in attendance included the Honorable Frank Nalty, Mayor of Brewton, the Honorable Joey Shell, Mayor of East Brewton, and the Honorable Ben Boutwell, Mayor of Century, Fla.
The ceremony included a performance of the National Anthem by former Miss Alabama and current Coastal Alabama employee Bri Burrell. First-year head coach Matt Collins cut the official ribbon to mark the stadium's opening, while longtime head coach Keith Griffin threw out the ceremonial first pitch in recognition of his years of leadership and service to the program. Dr. Milner and Daniel Head joined Griffin with ceremonial first pitches.
The Coyotes added to the celebration on the field, sweeping Marian University Ancilla College (Ind.) in a four-game series during the weekend festivities. Coastal Alabama - North outscored its opponent 70-10 across the series, showcasing a powerful offensive performance and strong pitching throughout.
Notable individual performances included right fielder Jesse Lord, who tallied six hits and eight RBIs in the series, while southpaw pitchers Kieran Kostanoski and Kameron McCord each dominated on the mound. Kostanoski tossed four scoreless innings in game one of the series, allowing no hits and striking out 10 batters, while McCord managed five scoreless frames in game three, recording seven strikeouts. Meanwhile, left fielder Sam Guth produced a six-RBI game with two three-run homers in game two of the weekend, currently leading the Coyotes with 10 runs batted in this season.
With the four-game sweep, the Coyotes improve to 5-2 on the season and are set for an additional non-conference doubleheader at home against Mississippi Gulf Coast on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The combination of a milestone facility unveiling and a commanding performance on the field made for a memorable celebration weekend in Brewton, signaling a promising future for Coastal Alabama - North Baseball in its new home.
