BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Baseball faced a tough challenge Wednesday, Feb. 11, falling in both games of a home doubleheader to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The Bulldogs remain unbeaten at 8-0 on the season following Wednesday's sweep over the Coyotes, while Coastal - North sees the overall record fall to 5-4.

Game One: MGCCC 6, Coastal Alabama - North 1 (7 Innings)

The Bulldogs capitalized on timely hitting in the opener, breaking open a close contest with a late offensive surge. After four scoreless frames, Mississippi Gulf Coast hit the scoreboard with a five-run fifth inning, adding an additional run in the sixth to take a 6-0 lead. Coastal - North managed to push across a run in the seventh and final inning, but struggled to string together sustained offense against the Bulldogs' pitching staff.

Designated hitter Reni Mason led Coastal with a pair of hits in the opener, while Tucker Carlos' solo home run put the 'Yotes on the board late. On the mound, Kieran Kostanoski and TJ Hauser combined to toss four scoreless innings to open Wednesday's action, with Kostanoski striking out four batters and allowing no hits. Hauser allowed just one hit. Bryant Lacour took the loss after allowing four earned runs off three hits in the fifth, while striking out two in the inning.

Game Two: MGCCC 13, Coastal Alabama - North 2 (5 Innings)

In the afternoon matchup, Mississippi Gulf Coast's bats stayed hot. The Bulldogs erupted for a big inning early to set the tone, with 10 runs scoring in the third inning alone. After the Coyotes plated one run in the first to open the scoring, the Bulldogs answered in a big way with 13 total runs across the second, third, and fourth frames. From there, Mississippi Gulf Coast pitching shut the 'Yotes offense down and the game was called via the run rule in the fifth inning.

Xavier Brown managed a triple in the game two loss for Coastal's lone extra-base hit of the game, driving in one of the Coyotes' two runs in the process. Jesse Lord drove in the other run on an RBI knock early. As a team, Coastal - North was held to seven hits, with just two runners scoring. From the rubber, Cameron Durr tossed the only 1-2-3 inning of the game for the 'Yotes, coming in the fifth where he faced three batters and struck out two.

Coastal Alabama - North is set for a three-game home series this upcoming weekend, hosting Gordon State College (Ga.) in the process. The three-game set is scheduled to begin on Friday afternoon, Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. CT with a single nine-inning game, while a doubleheader will follow on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
