Box Score BREWTON, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Baseball team earned a strong 6-3 non-conference win over Tallahassee State College (Fla.) on Wednesday, Feb. 18, using power at the plate to secure the victory. The win improves the overall record on the year to 7-6 for the Coyotes.
Yotes Slug Their Way to Win
The Coyotes totaled just five hits on the afternoon during the three-run win, with three leaving the yard to account for four of the six runs. In the bottom of the third inning, nine-hole hitter Cade Kelly broke the scoreless tie with a two-run homer, his second on the season. One inning later, Zoyle Gemar added to the power surge with a solo home run of his own, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Jesse Lord led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with his team-leading fifth home run of the season, adding a walk and a stolen base.
Meanwhile, Reni Mason chipped in with an RBI single, while Peyton Martin reached base twice via walks and scored a run. The Coyotes showed patience at the plate overall, drawing five walks to complement their five hits.
On the mound, Coastal - North utilized a quartet of arms — Brady Martin, Andrew Benson, Jordan Ard, and Harrison Hicks — to keep Tallahassee State in check. The pitching staff combined to limit scoring opportunities and preserve the three-run advantage down the stretch, with Tallahassee managing just six hits and striking out six times.
With the win, the Coyotes continue to build momentum in non-conference play, showcasing power at the plate as the team has slugged 15 home runs in 13 games played.
Friday Doubleheader Ahead
Coastal - North Baseball is scheduled to return to action on Friday afternoon, Nov. 20 in Brewton, hosting a doubleheader against ACCC Division I foe Lawson State (Ala.) at 12:00 p.m. CT. Friday's DH was originally slated for Saturday afternoon, but inclement weather in the Brewton area forced the schedule change.
