CUTHBERT, Ga. – Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball showed off the team's grit on Thursday night, Sept. 25 and pulled out a five-set road win over Andrew College (Ga.) in a non-conference matchup, seeing set scores of 25-13, 19-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-11 to earn the hard-fought win. The victory is the 10th of the season for the Coyotes, with the overall record improving to 10-5 through 15 matches on the year.
How It Happened
The Coyotes came out strong in the opening frame, rolling to a 25-13 win behind crisp offense and tough serving. Andrew College bounced back in the second, capitalizing on Coastal miscues to even the match at one set apiece. Coastal responded in the third, however, using a late push to claim a 25-20 win, but Andrew forced a deciding fifth set after holding off a Coyote rally in set four. In the decisive frame, Coastal settled in and controlled the tempo, finishing the night with a 15-11 victory to seal the road win.
Lexie Drace led Coastal - North with 15 kills and 13 digs, adding three blocks and an ace for an overall solid night on the court. Savannah Creamer chipped in 10 kills and three blocks, while Ali Simon made her presence felt at the net with eight kills and a team-high four block assists. Setter Hannah Vinas fueled the offense again with 39 assists on the night, while contributing 11 digs and three service aces.
Shaylee Frederick provided a spark from the service line with five aces and 12 digs, and Morgan Dykes tallied four aces of her own. The Coyotes eventually finished the evening off with 13 aces against Andrew College. Defensively, Coastal - North saw five players finish in double figures with defensive digs, with Abbie Mathews steadying the back row with 11 digs, while Ella Sprouse added 10 digs.
In total, the Coyotes racked up 53 kills, 66 digs, and 12 blocks while outlasting the Tigers in the five-set battle.
Return to ACCC Action
The Coyotes return to action next Thursday, Oct. 2 with a conference match on the road against Enterprise State (Ala.). Next week's big match will be played at 4:00 p.m. CT in Enterprise, Ala. as Coastal - North looks to upset the 24th-ranked team in the NJCAA for the second time during the 2025 season. The Coyotes knocked off the Boll Weevils in four sets back on Sept. 4.
