BREWTON, Ala. – Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball defended its home floor Saturday with a pair of strong wins, taking down Gadsden State (Ala.) in five sets before defeating Mississippi Gulf Coast in four. The two victories puts Coastal - North back in the win column after the Coyotes saw a seven-match winning streak come to an end earlier in the week.
Coastal - North's overall record improves to 9-4 on the season, with the conference record advancing to 5-2.
Coyotes Outlast Gadsden State in Five
Coastal - North opened the day with a gritty 3-2 victory over Gadsden State (25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12) to begin Saturday's tri-match. Faith Reid and Ella Sprouse powered the Coyotes at the net, combining for 21 kills, with Reid leading the way with a season-high 11 kills and Sprouse recording a double-double by adding 10 digs. Savannah Creamer chipped in eight more kills, while setter Hannah Vinas directed the offense with 41 assists. Defensively, the Coyotes came away with 53 digs and 10 total blocks against the Cardinals.
Coastal - North came alive in the fourth set to force a deciding frame and carried that momentum into a 15-12 finish for the win to open Saturday's action.
Mometum Carries Yotes to Four-Set Win Over Mississippi Gulf Coast
In the afternoon matchup, the Coyotes took control in a 3-1 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast after winning three-straight sets after dropping set one. Yotes won the match, 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 26-24 over the Bulldogs.
Three Coyotes reached double figures in kills, with Lexie Drace leading the charge with 16. Ella Sprouse followed closely behind with 15, while Savannah Creamer ended the four-set win with 10 kills. Hannah Vinas once again quarterbacked the offense with 47 assists, a new career-high for the first-year Coyote. In addition, Coastal - North delivered 10 service aces as a team, led by Vinas with four. At the net, Sprouse and Ali Simon combined for four blocks, and the defense held strong with 36 total digs in the victory. Faith Reid and Abbie Mathews led the Coyotes with seven digs each.
The Yotes managed to edge out a 26-24 fourth-set clincher, rallying late the secure the win.

Back on the Road
Coastal Alabama - North returns to road action following the home tri-match over the weekend as the Coyotes are scheduled for three consecutive road games from Sept. 23 - Oct. 2. Yotes face Pensacola Christian College (Fla.) next on the schedule at 6:00 p.m. CT in Pensacola, Fla. on the 23rd.
