BREWTON, Ala. – The 2025 season for the Coastal Alabama Cross Country program in Brewton, Ala. has officially been announced, as the Coyotes prepare for the first meet of the season in late August. The men's squad looks to continue its tradition of national-level performance after qualifying for the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships last season, while the women's team expands to a full roster for the first time in program history.
The team's seven-meet schedule kicks off on Aug. 29 at the Foothills Invite in Oxford, Ala. and features races in Alabama, Florida, and Iowa — culminating with the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Nov. 8.
"I'm thrilled to be fielding our first full women's team this season," said Head Coach Misti Nims, who begins her 25th season as a head coach at Coastal Alabama in Brewton. "Our goal is to build a program that mirrors the competitive success of our men's team, and this is a big step in that direction," said Nims.
On the men's side, the Coyotes will aim to reload after graduating three of their top five runners from the 2024 squad.
"While we graduated three of our top five runners from our nationally ranked squad, we're excited about the depth and talent of this year's roster," Nims said. "Four incoming freshmen will join our returning sophomores and immediately compete for the top five scoring spots."
The team will also compete at the Montevallo Classic (Sept. 12), Twilight at John Hunt (Sept. 26), Gulf Coast Invite (Oct. 3), and FGC Invite (Oct. 10), before entering postseason competition at the ACCC Cross Country Championship meets on Oct. 24 in Huntsville, Ala.
"It's going to be a fun and competitive year," added Nims. "These new additions bring a lot of energy and potential, and we're excited to see how things come together this fall."
