Cross Country Competes at Montevallo Classic

Coyotes Return to Action for Second Meet of 2025 Season Over the Weekend

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in the second meet of the 2025 campaign over the weekend, running in the annual Montevallo Classic in central Alabama. The men's team cracked the top 10 with a 10th-place finish out of 18 total team entrants in the first 8k ran of the year, while the women's team saw just three individual runners in a 5k meet and did not record a team finish.

On the men's side, three runners finish with sub-30 minute 8k times as Alexzander Querns led the Coyotes for the second consecutive meet, placing 38th overall with a time of 27:57. Riley Valdez followed with a time of 28:14, finishing 47th, and Phillip Parker placed 71st with a time of 29:20. The Montevallo Classic saw 146 total entrants. 

Curran O'Grady and Eli Covington both finished above the 100s in Coastal - North's first 8k, with O'Grady recording a time of 30:12 in 86th overall and Covington coming home 94th with a time of 30:53. Other results from the Montevallo Classic can be found below:
In the women's 5k, Coastal - North only ran three student-athletes who all notched personal records over the weekend. Roxanna Mendoza paced the women's performers with a time of 23:44 and 71st-place finish out of 108 entrants. Chloe Criswell followed closely behind with a time of 24:22 in 76th and Allison Reeves placed 91st with a time of 27:37. 

What's Next

Both teams are back in action on Sept. 26 as the Yotes compete at the Twilight at John Hunt in Huntsville, Ala. The men's race is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT, while the women's race will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. CT.
