FORT DODGE, Ia. - On a cold and snowy day in Fort Dodge, Ia., the Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country program, led by head coach Misti Nims, saw four student-athletes qualify and compete at the 2025 NJCAA D-II Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships. Two student-athletes from the men's team at Coastal - North competed in the scheduled 8k, while two from the women's team competed in a scheduled 5k. All were classified as individual entrants.
Coastal Alabama - North Results
In the men's 8k, sophomore Eli Covington and freshman Riley Valdez managed to earn bids to NJCAA Nationals representing Coastal Alabama this season. Covington, an Atmore, Ala. native, managed to place 219th overall out of 344 total runners, producing a time of 31:22.1. He averaged 6:18 per mile during the event. Meanwhile, Valdez, a Pensacola, Fla. native, secured a 269th-place finish with a time of 32:33.2, averaging 6:32 per mile.Â

From the women's team at Coastal - North, freshman Roxanna Mendoza and sophomore Chloe Criswell represented the Yotes and competed at the 5k national event. Mendoza, from Boaz, Ala., earned a 255th-place finish out of 321 total entrants with a time of 25:23.5. She averaged 8:10 per mile. For Chloe Criswell, the McDavid, Fla. native placed 267th overall with a time of 25:53, averaging 8:19 per mile.Â
The NJCAA D-II Cross Country National Championships conclude the 2025 season for Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country, with sights now ahead towards the 2026 campaign.Â
