LAKE CITY, Fla. - The Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country teams made their way to central Florida over the weekend and competed at the FGC Invitational, the first morning meet of the 2025 season. The men's team at Coastal Alabama earned a fifth-place finish and the women's team did not record a team placement. Additionally, the men's race was a scheduled 8k, while the women's race was a 5k.
On the men's side, five runners combined for a time of 2:32:43 and averaged 30:32. Riley Valdez paced the Yotes' results with a strong 17th-place finish out of 55 entrants, recording a time of 28:11 in the process. Valdez averaged 5:40 per mile. Eli Covington and Curran O'Grady followed, with Covington placing 28th (29:42) and O'Grady finishing 30th with time of 30:00 flat. Coastal - North saw others finishes from Jayron Blackmon in 43rd (31:46) and Dakota Bowman in 45th (33:02) to round out the Coyotes' performances on the men's side.
In the women's 5k, Coastal Alabama saw only four student-athletes compete for individual marks. Chloe Criswell and Roxanna Mendoza led the way in 34th and 35th, with Criswell finishing just three seconds ahead of Mendoza at 23:13. Allison Reeves followed that duo in 63rd with a time of 27:03 and Eiress Rockwell placed 70th with a time of 29:23.Â
Postseason Ahead
With the regular season in the books, Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country is scheduled for the ACCC Regional Meet next on the campaign. The ACCC Regional Meet is set for Friday, Oct. 24 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. The Coyotes will run at John Hunt Park for the second time this season at the annual conference championship.
