HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - In the latest start time of the 2025 season, the Coastal Alabama - North Cross Country teams competed at the annual Twilight at John Hunt on Sept. 26, with the men's team running an 8k and the women's team competing in a 5k. Both races were ran after sunset in Huntsville, Ala.
The men's team at Coastal Alabama turned in a solid effort in the second 8k race of the season, finishing 11th overall with a total team time from the top five sitting at 2:27:10. The Coyotes posted an average of 29:26 per runner, with a tight scoring spread of just 2:38 among the group. Leading the way for the Yotes was Riley Valdez, who clocked a team-best 28:16.01, placing 45th overall. He was followed closely by Phillip Parker, crossing in 28:26.55 for 52nd.
Alexzander Querns came in 73rd with a time of 29:21.68, while Curran O'Grady and Eli Covington rounded out the scoring five at 30:11.36 (86th) and 30:54.95 (99th), respectively. The Coyotes' depth was on display as well, with Adrian Stamper (32:46.93) and Noah Wyatt (32:51.86) pushing through as the team's sixth and seventh finishers, while Dakota Bowman closed out the lineup at 33:29.62. Collectively, the top seven posted a combined time of 3:32:49, averaging 30:24 per runner. A total of 18 teams and 163 entrants competed in the men's 8k.Â
On the women's side, Coastal Alabama only saw four student-athletes compete, which resulted in no team score across the 5k. Despite no team score for Coastal Alabama, the Yotes turned in a strong effort this weekend. Roxanna Mendoza led the Coyotes with a time of 24:10.0 (7:46 pace), placing 75th overall. Right behind her was Chloe Criswell, who crossed the line at 24:32.2, earning 80th place.Â
Allison Reeves added a time of 29:28.7 for 113th, while Eiress Rockwell returned to the course and rounded out the Coyotes' lineup with a 31:08.7 performance, placing 120th overall. In total, the women's 5k saw a total of 126 individual entrants.Â
Quick Turnaround
With the Twilight at John Hunt in the rearview mirror, the Yotes are scheduled for the next meet of the 2025 campaign on Friday evening, Oct. 3 in Panama City, Fla. Coastal Alabama is set to compete at the Gulf Coast Invite, with the women's race starting things at 5:30 p.m. CT. The men's race will follow at 6:00 p.m. CT.Â
