BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama Community College and the Coastal Alabama North Baseball program honored legendary head coach Keith Griffin ahead of the final two games of the 2025 season on Thursday afternoon, April 17, with the Coyotes hosting a conference doubleheader against Wallace State - Dothan. Coach Griffin is set to retire following the 2025 campaign and Coastal North Head-Coach-in-Waiting Matt Collins led the ceremony.
Keith Griffin took over as Head Baseball Coach of Coastal Alabama Community College's Brewton campus in the fall of 2022, after a historic career at the previously named Jefferson Davis Community College from 1996 to 2002. During his previous tenure in Brewton, Coach Griffin led the program to two state and region championships in 1998 and 2000. In 1998, Coach Griffin led his team to claim the NJCAA DII National Champonship. In 2024, a newly coined, Griffin-led Coyote ball club advanced once again to postseason, after a 10-year hiatus, and eventually won the ACCC D-II Tournament Championship, the first in 24 years.
In his long career, Griffin has seen over 30 former players drafted into Major League Baseball (MLB), as well as many more that moved on to compete at high collegiate levels. Outside of his role as a coach, Griffin has also been an instructor in the Physical Education Department at Coastal Alabama. He received his A.A. degree from Gadsden State Junior College (Ala.) in 1976, his B.S. in Physical Education from Livingston University (Ala.) in 1978, and two master's: a master's in Physical Education from the University of North Alabama in 1980 and a master's in Educational Leadership from the College of Education out of Chicago (Ill.) in 2012.
Prior to Thursday's doubleheader, Coach Griffin, along with his team and coaching staff, was joined on the field by his wife Teri Griffin, Coastal Alabama President Dr. Aaron Milner, and Coastal Alabama Brewton Campus Director Dennis Fuqua as he was presented with a gift and a well-deserved standing ovation.
Coastal Alabama North Baseball is set to conclude the 2025 regular season on Saturday, April 19 in Dothan, Ala. with a doubleheader against Wallace State - Dothan. Saturday's DH is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. CT.
