Strong Second Half Lifts Coyotes to Big Road Win Over Bishop State

Coastal - North Manages Road Victory Over Wildcats Behind Late Free Throws

MOBILE, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball team picked up a big road win over Bishop State Community College (Ala.) on Tuesday night, Nov. 4, relying on a strong second half and late free throws to secure the second win of the young 2025-26 season. Despite being outscored 36-24 in the first half, Coastal - North regrouped and put together a 38-point performance during the final 20 minutes, while holding the Wildcats to just 24 second-half points on their home floor.

The overall record improves to 2-1 for the Coyotes following Tuesday's win ahead of the home opener against the same Wildcats of Bishop State on Nov. 10.

Coyotes Secure Road W

Coastal - North struggled with consistent offense and turnovers out of the gate, shooting just 26% as a team and finishing 1-for-9 from three-point range across the first half. Additionally, the Coyotes turned the ball over 14 times during the first 20 minutes, needing the halftime break to snap Bishop State's momentum. In the second half, Coastal - North put together a solid half which saw the Yotes shoot near 50% and total 38 points alone to work a comeback against the Wildcats. Tied 60-60 late, two made free throws by Eli Pippins put the game away and the Coyotes left Mobile with a victory.

Pippins finished the game with only six points, scoring just the two made free throws in the second half alone. He added five assists, four rebounds and three steals for a solid all-around game. Meanwhile, Bryce Wilkins paced the Yotes offensively with 16 points in 27 minutes of playing time off the bench, while adding 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double. The freshman Queens, N.Y. native shot 50% from the floor and went 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

Other notable performances included Chimeziri Okeoma, who also tallied double figures from off the bench. Okeoma finished with 12 points and paced the team with 14 shots taken on the night. Starter Xzavier Brooks joined the double-digit party with 10 points, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and adding three assists, while David Culbreath-Martin managed six points in 11 minutes from off the bench. In total, the Coastal - North bench was responsible for 38 of the 62 points scored on the night.

Overall, Coastal - North finished the game shooting 37.1%, while relying on 16 points off 19 Bishop State turnovers. From the free throw line, the Coyotes made 11-of-18 shots, good for a 61% free-throw mark.
