BREWTON, Ala. - Coming off a big win over Coastal Alabama - South one night prior, the Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball team returned to the court on Thursday, Oct. 9 and made quick work of Wallace Community College - Selma (Ala.), cruising to a commanding 3-0 win with set scores finishing at 25-6, 25-7, 25-13. Coastal - North opened the match outscoring the winless Patriots 50-13 to eventually improve to 14-6 overall on the season and 8-3 in the ACCC.
The Highlights
The Coyotes were in full control from the opening serve, hitting an impressive .390 as a team while holding Wallace - Selma to a -.111 attack percentage. Coastal - North spread the offense around efficiently, with several players contributing to the lopsided win. Ella Sprouse led the attack with eight kills and just one error on 15 swings, while Lydia Miller added six kills, three aces, and six digs for a strong all-around showing. Faith Reid chipped in five kills and a block assist, and Joleigh Parmer kept the offense humming with 11 assists, two service aces, and four kills of her own.
Behind the service line, the Coyotes were relentless. 17 total aces came from a balanced serving effort led by Miller, Abbie Mathews, and Shaylee Frederick, who all notched three a piece. An ace eventually sealed the win for the Yotes. Frederick also dished out 14 assists and picked up seven digs, helping Coastal maintain control in all phases. Hannah Vinas, team leader in assists this season, got the night off and did not compete.Â
With the win, Coastal Alabama - North improves its home dominance with an 8-0 record during the year and continues to build momentum late in the season.
Road Test on Saturday
The Coyotes return to non-conference play on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a road matchup against Mississippi Gulf Coast at 1:00 p.m. CT. The meeting with MGCCC is the second this season with Coastal - North defeating the Bulldogs in four sets back on Sept. 20.
