PERKINSTON, Miss. - The Coastal Alabama - North Coyotes picked up an impressive non-conference road victory on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, defeating Mississippi Gulf Coast in four sets (25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19) in Perkinston, Mississippi. The win is another statement performance for the Coyotes as they continue to build momentum late in the season with the fifth-straight victory. The overall record improves to 15-6 this season.
Drace Powers the Offense Against MGCCC
Outside hitter Lexie Drace was near unstoppable on Saturday, leading the attack with a dominant 23 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Her 23-kill performance is a new career-high for the Long Beach, Miss. native, returning to her home state and adding 11 digs and two block assists to her stellar offensive match. Drace now sits just two kills shy of 200 during the 2025 season.
Ella Sprouse followed with 13 kills, finishing just one dig shy of a double-double against Mississippi Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, Shaylee Frederick set the tone of the offense with 32 assists, getting the start at setter for the absent Hannah Vinas, who leads the Yotes in assists this season. Joleigh Parmer added 14 assists, while recording five kills, three service aces, and 11 digs in a well-rounded showing. To go along with the strong offensive showing that saw the Yotes come away with 50 kills as a team, Coastal - North played well at the net defensively, with three players combining for 12 block assists.
Faith Reid made her presence felt at the net with six block assists, adding four kills. Savannah Creamer and Ali Simon combined for the remaining six total blocks, while also adding four kills as a duo. As a team, Coastal Alabama - North hit .176 with the 50 kills, also tallying 48 assists, eight aces, and 60 digs. The Coyotes limited the Bulldogs to a .140 hitting percentage.
Monday Match Canceled; Back Home on Wednesday
Coastal Alabama - North returns to action this week in conference play, hosting Bishop State (Ala.) on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 5:00 p.m. CT. Wednesday's match will be played in Brewton, Ala. and broadcasted live on JockJive.com.
The Coyotes were originally slated for a Monday afternoon match against United States Sports University (Ala.) on Oct. 13, but that match has since been canceled.
