BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball continued its strong conference campaign with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Bishop State Community College (Ala.) on Wednesday evening, Oct. 15, improving to 9-3 in the ACCC. The Coyotes took care of business in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) behind a balanced attack and sharp serving. Overall, Coastal - North improves to 10 games above .500 on the year at 16-6 and has won six-straight contests.
Wednesday Sweep
Reigning ACCC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week Lexie Drace led the charge with nine kills in the sweep, while Ella Sprouse followed with eight kills on the night. Sprouse added a match-high six service aces in the win and collected eight digs. Savannah Creamer managed six kills on a stellar .500 hitting percentage and setter Hannah Vinas returned to the lineup and directed the offense efficiently by dishing out 28 assists.
The Coyotes were strong defensively as well, holding Bishop State to just a .080 team hitting percentage and collecting 34 digs as a team. Lexie Drace again led the team in a statistical category, managing nine digs, while libero Shaylee Frederick recorded six. In addition, four players combined for several blocks at the net.
Overall, Coastal - North hit .262 on the night, with eight players recording at least one kill and a total of 12 service aces as a team.
The win keeps the Coyotes in the hunt for second place in the ACCC Volleyball South Division standings with Enterprise State (Ala.) recently clinching the division title.
Tri-Match on Saturday
The Yotes are set to host a pair of big matches on Saturday, Oct. 18, with Bevill State (Ala.) and Reid State Tech (Ala.) coming to Brewton, Ala. for a tri-match. Coastal - North will play Bevill State at 11:00 a.m. CT, while later battling the Lions of Reid State at 3:00 p.m. CT. Both matches will be broadcasted on JockJive.com with Coastal Alabama Athletics Marketing Specialist David Haney on the call.
