MOBILE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Volleyball battled through five sets Monday evening, Sept. 14 before falling to conference foe Bishop State (Ala.), 3-2, in an ACCC matchup on the road.
The Coyotes dropped the opening set, 25-20, before responding with a 25-20 victory in the second set to even the match. Bishop State regained the advantage with a 25-21 win in the third, but Coastal Alabama - North answered again, taking the fourth set, 25-21, to force a decisive fifth set.
In the final frame, Bishop State edged the Coyotes, 15-12, to claim the conference victory.
Avrie Hines led Coastal - North offensively with 14 kills, while Faith Reid added 12 kills and Ali Simon finished with eight. Hines also contributed five service aces and 16 digs, while Reid recorded four aces and three digs.
Reid led the Coyotes at the net with three total blocks, including one solo block and two block assists. Simon added two total blocks, while Arianna Wright recorded one block assist.
Libby Williams directed the Coastal - North offense with 40 assists, while Alana Jones added two assists. Williams also recorded five digs in the defeat.
Defensively, Jones paced the Coyotes with 19 digs, followed by Hines with 16. Shaylee Frederick added 12 digs, while Kaylee Gilbreath contributed eight. As a team, Coastal Alabama - North finished with 72 digs and 16 service aces in the loss.
The overall record falls to 4-8 on the season, while the ACCC record moves back to 2-3.
Yotes Series on Deck
Coastal Alabama - North is set to meet sibling rival Coastal Alabama - South next on the schedule for the first of two regular season matches during the 2026 season. The matchup comes on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 5:00 p.m. CT in Brewton, Ala as the two teams split the 2025 regular season home-and home series. The 'Yotes will meet again in Bay Minette, Ala. on Monday, Oct. 12 following Wednesday's match.
