BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Volleyball dropped a pair of home matches Saturday, Sept. 12 in Brewton, Ala., falling to Bevill State (Ala.) in straight sets before dropping a four-set decision to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
The Coyotes see the overall record fall back to 4-7 following the 0-2 day.
Doubleheader Recap
The Coyotes opened the day against Bevill State, falling 3-0 by set scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-22.
Arianna Wright led Coastal - North with 10 kills on 14 attacks, hitting an impressive .571 while adding a solo block. Avrie Hines contributed five kills and four digs, while Faith Reid added four kills, one service ace and three digs.
Libby Williams recorded nine assists in the loss, adding eight digs and a service ace, while Alana Jones led the Coyotes defensively with 11 digs. Daelyn Bozeman added three kills and a block assist, while Savannah Phillips contributed six assists and two service aces.
Coastal returned to the court Saturday afternoon against Mississippi Gulf Coast, winning the second set 25-21 before ultimately falling 3-1. The Coyotes dropped the opening set 25-21, answered with the second-set victory, then fell 25-17 and 25-13 in the final two sets.
Ali Simon turned in a strong showing against Mississippi Gulf Coast, finishing with seven kills on 17 attacks without committing an error for a .412 hitting percentage. She also recorded three solo blocks and two block assists in the defeat.
Faith Reid added eight kills on 23 attacks and Avrie Hines finished with seven kills, a block assist and three digs. Daelyn Bozeman added five kills and a block assist.
Libby Williams directed the Coastal offense once more with 24 assists while adding two kills and seven digs. Alana Jones contributed eight digs, while Shaylee Frederick and Kaylee Gilbreath each recorded seven digs.
Despite the two setbacks, Coastal - North received strong offensive production from several players throughout the day, including Wright's .571 hitting performance against Bevill State and Simon's error-free .412 effort against Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Coyotes will look to regroup and return to the win column in their next match on Monday.
Headed to Mobile
The Coyotes are set to meet ACCC foe Bishop State for the first of two regular season matches this season, coming on Monday, Sept. 14 in Mobile, Ala. at 5:00 p.m. CT.
