Coyotes Finish Weekend Homestand with 1-2 Showing

Coastal - North Volleyball Plays Three Matches; Ends Weekend 1-2 in Brewton

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 BREWTON, Ala. - Across three home matches played during the Aug. 29-30 weekend in Brewton, Ala., the Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball team finished 1-2 in the three non-conference matches, defeating United States Sports University (Ala.) in five sets before dropping a four-set match to Meridian Community College (Miss.) on Saturday and a five-set thriller to Snead State (Ala.) on Sunday. 

The overall record on the young 2026 season falls to 2-4 for the Coyotes. 

Coastal Alabama - North 3, USSU 2

The Coyotes opened the weekend on Saturday morning against NAIA program United States Sports University, dropping each of the first two sets (22-25, 28-30) to the Eagles. However, after adjustments in between sets made by head coach Steven Dickey, the Coyotes rolled in set three, 25-9. From there, the momentum shifted towards the Coyotes' bench. 

Following the dominating set three win, the 'Yotes managed a 25-20 set four victory, tying the match 2-2 and forcing a decisive set five to begin the long weekend of volleyball. In the fifth set, Coastal - North rolled to a 15-6 win, securing the comeback victory in the match to upset the NAIA member program. 

Daelyn Bozeman put together a career match in the win over USSU, leading all players with a career-high 17 kills on 25 attempts. Bozeman committed just two attack errors in the five-set instant classic, with the sophomore finishing the match with an outstanding .600 hitting percentage. 

Freshmen Avrie Hines and Arianna Wright followed Bozeman offensively, with Hines tallying 12 kills on a .310 hitting line and Wright recording nine kills. Sophomore transfer Libby Williams set the pace of the offense with a match-high 37 assists as Coastal - North's starting setter. 

On the defensive side, the Coyotes managed 41 digs and nine total blocks. Williams paced the team with 10 digs, giving her a double-double in the victory. Libero Shaylee Frederick finished with nine digs in the win. 

Meridian 3, Coastal Alabama - North 1

A match played later on Saturday went the way of the visitors, handing the Coyotes a four-set loss to wrap up a Saturday tri-match in Brewton. Meridian took each of the first two sets from the Coyotes (25-22, 27-25) to take a 2-0 advantage. However, Coastal - North continued to show fight and earned a 25-20 set three win to stay alive. From there, the Eagles of Meridian put the match away in the fourth set, earning a 25-22 win and securing the match victory. 

Avrie Hines paced the offense with 16 kills, hitting .342 in the process. Meanwhile, Arianna Wright picked up eight kills and Daelyn Bozeman finished with seven. Both Faith Reid and Ali Simon recorded six apiece. As a team, the Coyotes totaled 46 kills and hit .248 as a unit. 

Libby Williams once again set the tone of the offense, recording 33 assists in the loss. She added six digs. Avrie Hines finished with a double-double, leading the 'Yotes with 14 digs, while McKenna Dunlavy tallied seven digs as one of Coastal - North's two liberos in the match. 

Snead State 3, Coastal Alabama - North 2

The next day, the Coyotes suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Parsons of Snead State. The back-and-forth match saw each team split wins across the first four sets, forcing a match-deciding fifth set in Brewton. In the fifth, Snead State secured a comeback and won the set 19-17 to earn the match win. Prior to the comeback, Coastal - North held the Parsons a match-point for three consecutive rallies (14-11) until the Parsons put together a run. 

Arianna Wright led the offense with 14 kills, followed closely by Daelyn Bozeman with 13 kills and Avrie Hines with 12 kills. For Hines, the freshman finished the weekend with 40 kills across the three matches played, while Bozeman ended the weekend with 37.

Meanwhile, Libby Williams finished the weekend over the century mark in assists, with her 39-assist performance on Sunday giving her 109 across the three matches. Williams added eight digs and a pair of kills in the loss to Snead State.

Defensively, Shaylee Frederick finished in double figures in digs, recording 16 in the match. Hines joined Williams with eight digs to follow Frederick, while Kaylee Gilbreath totaled six digs.

Home Schedule Continues Wednesday

The Coyotes are set to play their fifth-straight home match next on the schedule, set for Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 2 in Brewton. Wednesday's match is against fellow ACCC foe Enterprise State (Ala.) and will see first serve at 4:00 p.m. CT.
