BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Baseball closed out the 2026 regular season with a split of a four-game conference series against Lurleen B. Wallace (Ala.) over the weekend, highlighted by a dramatic walk-off victory on Sophomore Day and a road win to secure the series split. With the results, the Coyotes clinched the No. 4 seed in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Division II Baseball Championship Tournament, set for Apr. 29 - May 1 at Paterson Field and Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala.
Coastal Alabama - North concludes the regular season at 32-21 overall and 22-14 in ACCC play under first-year head coach Matt Collins. Lurleen B. Wallace, meanwhile, captured the ACCC Division II regular season title. The top six teams in the 10-team standings advanced to postseason play.
Series Highlights
The Coyotes opened the series with a thrilling 9-8 walk-off victory in Brewton on Sophomore Day. After a back and forth game which eventually saw LBW erase a deficit that tied the game late, Coastal delivered in the clutch in the eighth inning. Zoyle Gemar provided the heroics with a game-winning single, finishing the series opener 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and a run scored.
Peyton Martin led the offensive charge with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, adding a double, two walks, and three runs scored. Jesse Lord also collected three hits, while Ashton Hardy and Sam Guth each homered to help pace the attack. Starting pitcher Kieran Kostanoski struck out five over 4.2 innings of work and concludes the regular season second in the NJCAA Division II in strikeouts (94).
After eight sophomores from Coastal Alabama - North Baseball were honored and recognized following the walk-off win, LBW responded in the nightcap with a narrow 7-6 win in game two, with the Coyotes stranding the tying run at third base in the final inning.

Martin and Lord each recorded two hits, with both players doubling. Lord drove in two runs, while Cooper Cantrell added two RBIs of his own. Coastal's defense proved costly, however, with the 'Yotes committing three errors, including a miscue that allowed the eventual winning runs to score late.
Two days later, the Coyotes bounced back in the series opener on the road in Andalusia, Ala. and secured at least the series split with a hard-fought 9-5 victory over the first-place Saints. Zoyle Gemar turned in a career day, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Reni Mason and Sam Guth also homered, with Guth's blast marking his team-leading 10th of the season. Meanwhile, Peyton Martin added four hits of his own to continue his strong series against LBW, while Tucker Carlos contributed a double and an RBI. On the mound, TJ Hauser delivered a strong start, allowing just two earned runs over five innings while striking out five.
In the series and regular season finale, the Coyotes dropped a tightly contested 6-5 decision. After tying the game in the top of the sixth inning, LBW responded with the go-ahead run in the bottom half and held on for the win.
Peyton Martin reached base multiple times, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, walk, two stolen bases, and a run scored. He finished the four-game set with LBW 11-for-15 at the plate, tallying four doubles, three walks, and scoring seven runs as Coastal's leadoff batter. Additionally, Tucker Carlos added a home run in the loss in the finale, while Reni Mason and Sam Guth each drove in runs. Xavier Brown chipped in with a two-hit effort.

Coastal Alabama - North now turns its attention to postseason play, opening the ACCC Division II Baseball Championship Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Coyotes are scheduled to face No. 5 seed Bishop State (Ala.) at 11:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Apr. 29 at Paterson Field in downtown Montgomery.
The double-elimination tournament will determine the conference's automatic qualifier to the NJCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
