BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Baseball capped off a season sweep of sibling rival Coastal Alabama - South in emphatic fashion on Tuesday afternoon, Mar. 31, outlasting the Coyotes from Bay Minette in a 15-9 slugfest at home in Brewton.
In a game defined by offense, Coastal - North delivered timely hitting and capitalized on key innings to take control. The two teams combined for 24 runs and 29 hits, but it was Coastal - North that made the most of its opportunities, finishing with 16 hits and eight walks to keep constant pressure on the opposition.
After the teams exchanged runs early, Coastal - North broke through with a four-run third inning to take its first substantial lead of the game. Although Coastal - South answered throughout the middle innings, the Brewton-based Coyotes responded with a pivotal five-run sixth inning that ultimately created enough separation to secure the victory.
The offensive production was spread throughout the lineup, highlighted by a dominant performance from Xavier Brown. Brown went 4-for-5 at the plate, blasting a home run while driving in four runs and scoring three times. He finished a triple shy of the cycle in Tuesday's contest.
Tucker Carlos also produced a strong showing at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with four runs scored. Sam Guth mixed in three hits as well, driving in two runs and scoring twice, while Alex Martin contributed three RBIs and delivered a key two-run home run in the middle frames.
Jesse Lord also played a major role in the offensive outburst, recording three RBIs, while Peyton Martin added an RBI and worked two walks. Zoyle Gemar showed patience at the plate with three walks and scored two runs, further emphasizing Coastal - North's disciplined approach throughout the game.
In total, Coastal - North tallied 14 RBIs on 15 runs. The Coyotes also benefited from multiple extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning that kept the Coastal - South defense on its heels.
On the mound, Coastal - North pieced together the win with contributions from several arms. Harrison Hicks earned the victory in relief, delivering three strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out two. His outing helped stabilize the game during a critical stretch after Coastal - South had mounted a mid-game push. Bryant Lacour was awarded the start for the 'Yotes, tossing two innings and striking out a pair.
The pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts and limited further damage after the sixth inning, allowing the offense to maintain control down the stretch.
Meawhile, Coastal Alabama - South battled throughout, recording 13 hits and staying within striking distance for much of the contest. Aiden Hughes led the way for the Coyotes from Bay Minette with three hits and three RBIs, while Derek Jelen added three hits and two RBIs. However, Coastal - North's ability to produce in big moments proved to be the deciding factor.
With the win, Coastal Alabama - North, led by first-year head coach Matt Collins, not only secured a high-scoring rivalry victory but also completed the two-game season sweep over Coastal Alabama - South in the 2026 non-divisional series.
The Coyotes now stand at 22-15 overall as they continue to build momentum moving forward.
