BREWTON, Ala. - The Coyotes of Coastal Alabama - North Baseball split a weekend doubleheader against Lawson State (Ala.), taking game one before falling in the nightcap at home in Brewton to the Cougars. The overall record moves to 8-7 on the season with conference play looming ahead.
DH Highlights
Coastal - North opened the day with a strong offensive showing, earning a 9-7 win in the first game of the twin bill. The Coyotes jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and added another surge midway through the game, highlighted by a five-run fifth inning that helped create separation. Lawson State made a late push, but Coastal's pitching staff held on down the stretch to secure the victory.
Sam Guth highlighted the offense for the Coyotes, coming away with two solo home runs in the win. Jesse Lord and Ashton Hardy also connected on homers, with Lord continuing to pace the ACCC with six homers during the 2026 campaign. Meanwhile, Kieran Kostanoski got the start on the mound, tossing five innings and allowing three earned runs off five hits. He struck out four. Andrew Benson, Bryant Lacour, and Kameron McCord closed out the game for the 'Yotes from out of the bullpen, combining for three hits allowed and two runs.
In game two, Lawson State responded and took control early on the way to a 7-1 win. The Coyotes were limited offensively in the second game, managing just a single run off two hits as Lawson State built a steady advantage and kept Coastal's lineup from generating a rally. Coastal's Zoyle Gemar broke up the shutout with a late solo home run in the loss.
ACCC Action Next
Coastal - North is set for the first ACCC Division II games of the season next on the schedule, coming on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 26 against rival Reid State Tech (Ala.). Thursday's action is a scheduled doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT and is the first two games of the four-game series this week between the two programs.
