BREWTON, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Volleyball came up short in a five-set home match against Northwest-Shoals Community College (Ala.) on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 1, falling to the ACCC North Division opponent despite taking a 2-1 lead in the match.

The overall record falls to 6-13 on the season for the 'Yotes, dropping five of the last six matches during a tough stretch during the 2026 schedule.

How It Happened

The Coyotes dropped the opening set 25-14 before responding with back-to-back victories, taking the second set 25-23 and the third 25-17 to move within one set of the match victory.

However, Northwest-Shoals answered in the fourth set, edging the Coyotes 26-24 to force a deciding fifth set. The visitors carried that momentum into the final frame, securing a 15-10 win to clinch the match win.

Sophomore Faith Reid led the Coastal Alabama offense with 16 kills, while Avrie Hines added 13 kills and eight digs. Arianna Wright and Daelyn Bozeman each contributed 10 kills, with Bozeman recording a team-high .360 hitting percentage among the Coyotes' primary attackers.

Setter Libby Williams orchestrated the offense with 38 assists and contributed 13 digs for the double-double. Williams currently sits third in the ACCC with a 7.75 assists per set average.

Meanwhile, sophomore libero Shaylee Frederick paced the defensive effort with 15 digs, while Reid also reached double figures defensively with 13 digs. Hines added three service aces to lead Coastal Alabama in that category.

The Coyotes have now played seven five-set matches throughout the 2026 campaign, coming up short in five of the seven.

What's Ahead

Coastal - North continues ACCC North Division play next on the schedule, traveling to Prattville, Ala. for a matchup against Central Alabama Community College on Saturday, Oct. 3. Saturday's match is set for 1:00 p.m. CT.
