THE COOPER CENTER | MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Men's Basketball delivered a statement victory Thursday night, Jan. 15, knocking off No. 13 Snead State Community College (Ala.) 75-68 in a battle for first place in the current ACCC Division II standings. Trailing by eight at the halftime break, the Coyotes outscored Snead State 43-28 in the second half, leaning on rebounding dominance, poise at the free-throw line, and timely individual performances to secure one of the biggest wins of the season.
The overall record improves to 12-8 on the season following the win, with the ACCC record improving to a conference-best 6-1.
'Yotes Knock Off 13th-Ranked Parsons
After Snead State carried a 40-32 advantage into halftime behind efficient shooting, Coastal - North flipped the script with defensive pressure and relentless rebounding through the final 20 minutes. The Coyotes held Snead State to just 28 points in the second half, forcing difficult looks and limiting second chances while holding the Parsons below 70 points for just the second time this season. Snead State entered played averaging over 90 points per contest during the 2025-26 campaign.
In front of the loud and rowdy home crowd, Coastal - North finished the night 24-of-27 at the free throw line (88.9%), including 16 makes in the second half. The free throw performance for the 'Yotes was by far the best of the season. Additionally, the Coyotes controlled the glass, winning the rebounding battle 45-25, including 16 offensive rebounds that repeatedly extended possessions and wore down the visiting Parsons. Coastal - North ended the night shooting 37.7% as a team from the floor.
In his return to the court after missing the last several games, Bryce Wilkins led all scorers with 17 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double, going 9-of-11 at the free-throw line while anchoring Coastal's physical presence inside. Elijah Pippins followed and turned in a complete performance with 15 points and eight assists, knocking down 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and consistently setting the tempo during the Coyotes' second-half surge.
Meanwhile, Chimeziri Okeoma also chipped in 15 points, attacking the basket and converting all four free-throw attempts, while Justin Burns recorded a strong all-around night with a double-double, tallying 11 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
With the victory, Coastal - North strengthens its position atop the ACCC Division II standings and adds a marquee win over a nationally ranked opponent as conference play intensifies.
Conference Play Continues Monday
The Coyotes will look to carry the momentum forward as they continue conference action in the coming week, traveling to Marion, Ala. for a matchup with Marion Military Institute on Monday, Jan. 19. Monday's game in Marion is set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
