BAY MINETTE, Ala. – Coastal Alabama - North saw its seven-match win streak come to an end Wednesday night, Sept. 17, falling in a five-set rivalry battle to Coastal Alabama - South, 3–2 (25-13, 22-25, 31-29, 19-25, 11-15). The loss is the first since the month of August for the Coastal - North Coyotes, pushing back the overall record to 7-4 on the season. Additionally, the ACCC record drops to 4-2 after the five-set thriller.

How It Happened

The Coyotes from Coastal - North came out strong, dominating the opening set 25-13 behind efficient attacking and a clean defensive effort. After dropping the second set, Coastal - North clawed its way through an extended third set, edging Coastal - South 31-29 to regain the match lead. However, despite hitting .609 in the fourth set and posting a .333 mark in the fifth, the Coyotes from the north side could not slow down South's late push and momentum and eventually fell in the decisive fifth and final set.

Coastal - North finished the night with 56 total kills as a unit, highlighted by 16 in both the third and fourth sets. The Coyotes' attack was balanced, with multiple players contributing to the offense, while the team also recorded seven service aces across the five sets. Savannah Creamer paced the offense with a .385 hitting line and 14 kills on the night, while reigning ACCC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week Ella Sprouse collected 13 kills off a .324 hitting percentage. Lexie Drace joined Creamer and Sprouse in double figures, collecting 10 kills. Coastal - North ended the night with a .187 hitting percentage as a team. 

Reigning ACCC Volleyball Setter of the Week Hannah Vinas put together a strong 35-assist performance in the tough loss, surpassing 300 assists during the 2025 season in the process. Defensively, Coastal - North tallied nearly 70 digs, showing grit to keep long rallies alive. Ella Sprouse led the way with 14 digs to go along with her 13 kills, while Abbie Mathews came away with 10 digs. Libero Morgan Dykes finished the match with eight digs. 

Despite the loss, the Coyotes from Coastal - North showcased fight and consistency that fueled their seven-match winning streak ahead of Wednesday, pushing the match to the limit before falling in the decisive fifth set.

Bounce Back on Saturday

Coastal Alabama - North will look to bounce back quickly as they return to action in conference play later this week, returning home to Brewton, Ala. for a matchup against Gadsden State (Ala.). This weekend's matchup is set for Saturday, Sept. 20 and is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's match will be broadcasted live on JockJive.com.
