BREWTON, Ala. – Coastal Alabama – North Women's Volleyball opened its 2025 home schedule in dominant fashion over the weekend in Brewton, Ala., defeating United States Sports University (Ala.) in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 31 and grabbing the first win of the year. The Yotes improved across each set, eventually knocking off USSU 25-18, 25-13, 25-11 to improve to 1-3 on the young 2025 campaign.
Inside the Box Score
Hitting an impressive .439 as a team with 35 kills and just six attack errors, Coastal North's offense was lights out against the Eagles of USSU. Lexie Drace led the offense with seven kills on a .545 hitting percentage, while Daylin Williamson added six kills and Ella Sprouse and Savannah Creamer each collected five. Sprouse managed five kills on seven total attacks off head coach Steve Dickey's bench.
Freshman setter Hannah Vinas set the tone for the offense, dishing out a match-high 21 assists while also contributing three kills and three service aces. Defensively, the Yotes kept the visitors off balance, recording 22 digs and six team blocks. Shaylee Frederick posted four digs and three aces from the service line, while libero Morgan Dykes and Faith Reid notched three digs each. As a team, Coastal North totaled 11 aces in the three-set win.
Back on the Road
Following the impressive win at home, the Coyotes are back on the road for a non-divisional matchup on Wednesday evening, Sept. 3, facing off with John Melvin University (Fla.) at 5:00 p.m. CT in Pace, Fla. Wednesday's match is the first of two regular season meetings between the two teams as John Melvin is set to visit Brewton, Ala. on Oct. 29 in the regular season finale.
