POPLARVILLE, Miss. – Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball, led by head coach Steve Dickey, opened the 2025 campaign on the road on Saturday, August 23, falling in a pair of matches against Pearl River Community College (Miss.) and East Central Community College (Miss.). Despite the 0-2 start, several Yotes turned in strong performances to begin the season.
Against Pearl River, Coastal North fell 12-25, 23-25, 11-25, hitting just .075 as an offense. Freshman Faith Reid paced the offense with five kills, adding two blocks against a tough front-row opposition. Daelyn Bozeman, Lexie Drace, and Lydia Miller chipped in three kills a piece, while Haley Westberry, Joleigh Parmer, Ali Simon, and Abbie Mathews all recorded two kills each across the three sets played. Defensively, Morgan Dykes led the team with 13 digs, followed by Hannah Vinas with six. Vinas ran the offense and distributed a team-best 11 assists during the match.
Later that afternoon, the Yotes fell in four sets (24-26, 18-25, 25-14, 19-25) to East Central. Coastal North had three players record double-digit kills, led by Lexie Drace, who finished with a team-high 12 kills on a .286 hitting percentage. Drace added 11 digs for a strong all-around performance. Lydia Miller was highly efficient on the front row, tallying 10 kills on a .409 attack percentage, while freshman Daylin Williamson delivered seven kills and added a block. The offense hit .197 as a team against East Central, with setter Hannah Vinas putting together a monster match with 30 assists and 14 digs, team-highs in both categories. Morgan Dykes joined with double-digit dig totals, collecting 10. Coastal North tallied 53 defensive digs across the four-set defeat.
What's Ahead
The Coyotes will look to bounce back as they continue play on the road this week, with the next match on the schedule coming against Lurleen B. Wallace Community College on Wednesday evening, Aug. 27 at 5:00 p.m. CT. Wednesday's match will be played in Andalusia, Ala.
The Yotes' first home match of the season comes on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30 with a 1:00 p.m. CT showing against United States Sports University (Ala.).
