BREWTON, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama North Baseball team finished off a four-game sweep over the Lions of Reid State Tech (Ala.) on Saturday afternoon, April 12, extending the current win streak to eight games in the process. The Coyotes used a shutout in game one to start Saturday's action, while following that with a run-rule victory in game two. All four games of the weekend series were played in Brewton, Ala.
Coastal North Baseball is now 24-21 on the season and 18-14 in the ACCC.
The Highlights
In a 4-0 shutout over the Lions to kick off Saturday's doubleheader, Wyatt Tharpe dealt on the mound for Coastal North and finished with a complete-game effort, allowing no runs and just one hit. Tharpe struck out eight batters and threw 94 pitches, 63 going for strikes. He faced 23 batters and issued just one walk.Â
On the offensive side, Pace Young and Ethan McAnally recorded extra-base hits in the victory, with both players recording one RBI each. McAnally's lone run driven in came from a solo home run. Luis Vicente joined Young and McAnally with an RBI in the game, finishing 0-for-1 with a walk.Â
In game two, the Coastal North offense sparked and secured an 11-1 victory in five innings. The Yotes used a six-run fifth inning to end the game early against Reid State. Pace Young picked up two more RBIs off a 2-for-4 performance in game two, while Colton Brock managed a 1-for-2 line with an RBI, walk, and two runs scored. Luis Vicente also scored two runs, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. The offense out-hit Reid State 9-2 in Saturday's second game.
On the mound, Ethan McAnally tossed four innings as the starting pitcher, allowing one run off two hits. He walked three and struck out five. Joey Ervin then closed out the game with a scoreless fifth inning, striking out two batters in four batters faced. In total, the Coastal Alabama North pitching staff allowed just three hits in 12 innings of work across Saturday's DH.

The Coyotes are set to meet NAIA member Faulkner University (Ala.) next on the schedule, coming on Monday afternoon, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
