Baseball Drops Two Seven-Inning Games on Thursday

Coyotes Swept by Wallace State - Selma in Road Doubleheader

SELMA, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama North Baseball team dropped two seven-inning conference games to Wallace State - Selma (Ala.) on Thursday, March 20, seeing the overall record fall to 13-18 on the season. The Coyotes fell 6-5 in game one, while dropping the nightcap 10-4. In addition, the ACCC record falls to 7-11 following Thursday's results.

Game One Recap

Coastal Alabama North mounted a late comeback but fell just short in a tight opener. After trailing 4-1 heading into the seventh, the Coyotes rallied for four runs in the final frame, powered by a clutch two-run single from Rustin Pope. However, Wallace-Selma answered back with two runs in the bottom half to walk it off.

Jay Davis pitched five innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits, while Joey Irvin and Harrison Hicks combined for the final inning and two-thirds. Coastal North's offense was limited to just three hits, but patience at the plate led to seven walks. DJ Eurgil contributed an RBI pinch-hit single, and Jeremiah Gary and Pope each had a hit and a strong showing at the plate.

Game Two Recap

In the second game, Wallace-Selma came out firing, scoring in each of the first three innings and building a 6-1 lead by the third. Despite a three-run fifth inning by the Coyotes, the Patriots pulled away late behind an 11-hit effort and seven stolen bases.

Jeremiah Gary and Ethan McAnally were bright spots offensively, each going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Starter Noah Morgan gave up three runs in two innings, and the bullpen couldn't hold down a Wallace State lineup that produced five extra-base hits.

Coastal North totaled eight hits in the loss, but three defensive errors proved costly, and the pitching staff struggled to contain the Patriots' aggressive base running and timely hitting.

What's Next

The two teams are scheduled to meet for an additional doubleheader on Saturday, March 22, coming on the Coyotes' home field in Brewton, Ala. Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 12:00 p.m. CT start time and will be broadcasted live on JockJive Sports.
