SELMA, Ala. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball opened ACCC play on the road Monday evening, Nov. 24, coming up just short in a 63-59 loss to Wallace Community College - Selma (Ala.). The Coyotes held a narrow edge at halftime and continued to battle throughout a possession-by-possession second half, but a late scoring push by Wallace - Selma proved to be the difference and eventually handed the Coyotes a loss in the conference opener.
Coastal - North's overall record falls to 3-5 this season following Monday's defeat.

Coastal - North started strong behind an efficient first quarter, taking a 15-14 lead after the opening period before entering halftime ahead, 32-28. Wallace - Selma regained momentum in the third quarter, however, and outscored the Coyotes in the final frame to close out the four-point decision with a comeback win.
Lailah Hill led the Coyotes with a double-double, finishing with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while going 7-of-7 at the free-throw line. Saije Taylor added 11 points and nine rebounds to finish one board shy of her own double-double as both players provided consistent interior play throughout the night. Joy Minnifield scored nine points with three rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Tamira Smalls contributed six points. Off the bench, Starr Pittman delivered 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting, giving Coastal - North a spark in the second and third quarters.
The Coyotes finished with 42 total rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass for second-chance opportunities, Despite the strong rebounding effort, turnovers and missed free throws proved costly. Coastal - North committed 21 turnovers and shot just 53% from the line, while Wallace - Selma converted key second-chance opportunities in the final minutes.
Road Stretch Continues
Monday's game continued a stretch of five consecutive road games for the Coyotes, with the Yotes set to return to action this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 29 in Whatley, Ala. Coastal - North is set to meet Southern Union State (Ala.) on Saturday, with tip off in the non-conference meeting scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.Â
