BATON ROUGE, La. - Coastal Alabama - North Women's Basketball closed out its weekend road trip on Saturday, Nov. 15 with an 87-60 loss to Baton Rouge Community College (La.), falling to 2-3 on the young season. The loss snaps a two-game win streak the Yotes put together to reach .500 after opening the year with a pair of losses.
How It Happened
The Coyotes started competitively, trailing just 18-14 after the opening quarter, but a decisive second period by Baton Rouge proved to be the turning point. Baton Rouge outscored Coastal - North 31-11 in the frame, building a lead that the Coyotes couldn't erase despite a strong fourth-quarter push.
Guard Joy Minnifield continued her early-season momentum, turning in a team-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. She added two steals and a block in 21 minutes. Jamonica Miller also reached double figures with 11 points and five rebounds, while Saije Taylor contributed six points and five boards.
Coastal - North found offensive balance throughout the lineup, with Starr Pittman adding seven points off the bench and Alaysia Graham providing a four-point performance on perfect shooting. The Coyotes knocked down a season-high eight three-pointers as a team and shot 41.5% from the floor despite the defeat.
