BREWTON, Ala. - The Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball program celebrated the graduating sophomores from the team and turned in a 1-1 showing on its home floor on Saturday, Oct. 25, sweeping Andrew College (Ga.) in straight sets before narrowly falling in a five-set battle to Pearl River Community College (Miss.). The overall record improves to 19-8 on the season for the Coyotes after Saturday's action with just two matches remaining ahead of the ACCC Volleyball Championship Tournament.
Saturday Highlights
The Coyotes opened the day with a convincing 3-0 win (25-13, 25-23, 25-23) over Andrew College. Ella Sprouse led the way with an impressive 14-kill performance on .444 hitting, while Lexie Drace added eight kills and one service ace. Daylin Williamson was efficient at the net with six kills on a .500 clip, and Faith Reid added three kills, two aces, and five points off the bench. Setter Hannah Vinas directed the offense with 19 assists, while Joleigh Parmer added 13 assists and seven digs. Defensively, Abbie Mathews anchored the back row with eight digs, and Morgan Dykes chipped in five. The Coyotes hit .225 as a team, finishing with 42 kills, 40 assists, and 45 total digs.
In the afternoon matchup, Coastal - North battled Pearl River in a marathon match before coming up short 3-2 (30-28, 16-25, 25-17, 22-25, 9-15). Lexie Drace powered the attack with a match-high 17 kills, five aces, and 17 digs, while Ella Sprouse added another strong outing with 12 kills, 11 digs, and three block assists. Savannah Creamer totaled five kills and six blocks to control the net and Faith Reid added five kills and a team-best six block assists.
Setter duo Hannah Vinas and Joleigh Parmer combined for 40 assists—Vinas with 26 and Parmer with 14—and each added key defensive contributions, with Vinas tallying seven digs and Parmer four. Shaylee Frederick and Abbie Mathews combined for 19 digs on the back row as the Coyotes finished with 64 team digs, nine service aces, and 20 total blocks. The loss against Pearl River is just the second home defeat of the season for the Yotes.
Prior to the start of the matches, several graduating sophomores were honored for Sophomore Day with friends and family.
Two Regular Season Matches Left
Coastal - North will look to get back into the win column and is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday evening, Oct. 28 at 5:00 p.m. CT. The Coyotes will host Baptist University of Florida on Tuesday in Brewton, looking to sweep the regular season series between the two teams. Coastal - North won a five-set thriller over Baptist Univ. back in September.Â
The regular season finale will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29 in Brewton.Â
