BREWTON, Ala. – In a massive conference matchup in Brewton, Ala. on Wednesday evening, Oct. 22, Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end, while also dropping the first match at home during the year after falling 3-1 to visiting Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Ala.). The loss not only marked the Coyotes' first defeat at home this season, but also solidified LBW as the second seed in the ACCC Volleyball South Division standings ahead of the ACCC Volleyball Championship Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. beginning on Oct. 31. The Coyotes are now 11-1 on their home floor during the 2025 campaign.
With a conference record finishing at 8-4 during the season, the Yotes will enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed. Meanwhile, the overall record falls back to 18-7 on the year for Coastal - North following Wednesday's loss.
How It Happened
After dropping the opening set 25-18, Coastal - North bounced back with a strong 25-17 win in the second frame. Momentum swung back toward the Saints, however, as LBW closed out the match with narrow 25-22 and 25-23 victories across sets three and four.
Ella Sprouse led the Coyotes' attack with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Lexie Drace added 11 kills and 11 digs for a pair of double-double efforts. Savannah Creamer contributed five kills and four blocks, and Faith Reid chipped in six kills with four block assists. Daylin Williamson joined Reid with four block assists on the night, adding three kills.
Setter Hannah Vinas ran the offense, dishing out 35 assists to go along with two service aces and six digs. Defensively, Coastal - North collected 44 digs and tallied seven solo and 10 assisted blocks in a balanced team effort. Drace and Creamer tallied three solo blocks each.
Despite the setback, the Coyotes continue to sit near the top of the ACCC standings as they approach the final stretch of the regular season. Coastal Alabama - North will look to bounce back with a pair of home contests this weekend.
Sophomore Day Ahead
The Coyotes are set to host a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 25, scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. CT in Brewton, Ala. Prior to the opening match, several graduating sophomores from the Coastal Alabama - North Women's Volleyball program will be honored for Sophomore Day. The Yotes will then face Andrew College (Ga.) at 11:00 a.m. CT, while face Pearl River Community College (Miss.) at 3:00 p.m. CT.
